2018 – The Cow Path reconstructed

The path leading down from High Street to the centre of the park has become known as the Cow Path, a term created by this author after discovering the track was made by the daily routine of cows treading the route in their journey from a Malthouse Lane farm to graze on the lower slopes of the park.

The path was narrow and well used but easily became waterlogged and impassable, so a decision was made to upgrade it by widening and hard surfacing, necessitating an archaeological survey.

The plan of the investigation, and a photograph of the major discovered feature. Both images are taken from Archaeology Warwickshire Report No 1863 August 2018; the full report can be seen here:  Cow path report
